What's your name and what do you do?

My name is Jax Quinn and I have been a full time model for the last 13 years and recently launched my new business, The Personal Consultant, where I work with clients on personal styling and gift consultations.

What is your personal approach to your style?

My personal style changes day-to-day. Living in Australia I would say it is very dependent on the weather as you really can only be comfortable in certain fabrics and pieces when it’s 35 degrees and full sun. I’m most comfortable in wide leg pants or jeans and a more interesting piece on top with flats - I’m 180cm so it requires a very special design to get me into heels by choice.

Jax wears the Noa Vest and Jules Short.

How would you describe the aesthetic?

I would describe it as comfortable and classic but still interesting.

"I love pieces that are slightly elevated or have a unique design element that makes them special but can still be worn week to week."

Take us through your creative process, how do you find focus and what drives you?

I offer a variety of services through my new business which I really enjoy as no two days are alike- one day I could be assisting a client with designing an engagement ring and the next shopping for a post-pregnancy back to work wardrobe - I’ve found that this is what keeps me most creative as my brain doesn’t have the chance to get stuck on one item for long.

Who, what or where is inspiring you right now?

Recently I have felt inspired by the slower moments in life and what I notice in them. Whether it's nature that’s right outside my door that I’ve walked past hundreds of times without stopping and looking at, or the other day when my Uber was at a red light and there was a couple standing on the sidewalk laughing so hard at something that they couldn’t seem to catch a breath - these moments always make me want to be more present and the things I notice when I am fully present are what inspires me the most.

Tell us about a project something you’re working on thats exciting you right now?

I’ve recently assisted a client in designing an engagement ring for their partner and it has been one of my favourite projects yet with my new business. Giving someone that reassurance and guidance through what can be a very stressful purchase is always very rewarding.

In a world where digital presence is crucial, how do you maintain authenticity in your online?

My parents have always said that I am "particular", which I think is a kind way of saying that I know what I do and don’t like. This is quite helpful with both my business and what I share online because quite simply, if I don’t like it I won’t share it - why would I?

How do you quiet your mind, and find calm in the chaos?

Getting off my phone and computer and out of my house! And making time for intentional alone time- not just “oh I’m home alone right now as I type this” but actually finding calm in the little moments whether that be going for a walk by the ocean or listening to music while cooking dinner.

What is the most important thing to you when curating a space?

Function is always a top priority but also how you want to feel in that space. We recently redecorated our living room and while there weren't any real issues with the functionality of the space, it didn’t make me feel relaxed- which I think is very important as one of the rooms where we spend a bit of our time. This probably sounds dramatic but I feel like it has actually made me sleep better at night as I enjoy our downtime in the evenings and feel more relaxed overall.
